Gift Receipts provide the ability for a retail venue to issue a receipt without pricing or an item list when requested. The gift receipt can be given to a gift recipient so that if they need to return the item purchased, they can do so without seeing everything else the gifter bought. The venue will be able to look up the purchase and scan the gifted item to return it.
This functionality should primarily be used by retail/merchandise locations. There is not much reasoning for gift receipts to be issued at food and beverage locations. Gift receipts will not be printable on open checks if checks are used. They will need to be closed prior to being able to issue a gift receipt.

This template has the following fields:
Gift Receipts is configurable at the vendor level. They can be turned on or off. They do not require any additional permissions and there is no permission restrictions.

4 - To turn on, change Gift Receipts to Yes

Printing Gift Receipts
There are three places in Activate X where an agent can select to print a Gift Receipt:
“Thank You” Order Completion screen
Once the order is completed, select the Gift icon and the gift receipt will print.
All Orders screen
If the agent forgets to print or the guest comes back requesting the gift receipt, an agent can look up the order in All Orders and select the More icon and the Gift icon to print it.
Previous Order screen
If the agent forgets to print or the guest comes back requesting the gift receipt, an agent can look up the order in All Orders, load the order and select to Print Gift Receipt.
Refunding Items with Gift Receipts
There were no changes made to the receipted refund flow. Agents will need to remember to select the payment method per the venue’s business rules for returning gift items. Industry standard is not to return the funds to the purchaser.
If a guest is returning a merchandise item and comes to the store with a gift receipt:
Scan the receipt barcode to locate the order
Scan the merchandise SKU to locate the returnable item
Select All Payments
Select the Payment method that will be used to issue money to the guest
If you select the payment method that is saved on the order, the money will return to the purchaser and not the receiver of the gift
