*Daily + is sometimes necessary due to battery limitations and/or bandwidth
Avoid areas of low connectivity
Consistently reliable (in spec) Wifi or no Wifi is preferable to intermittent connectivity. Avoid areas of low connectivity whenever possible. If orders must be taken in such areas it is advised to take them offline and sync only in an area where known good connectivity can be achieved.
Syncing Offline Orders
If offline orders must be taken for a significant portion of your service period, it’s advised to sync offline orders with Connect as often as possible to avoid large numbers of orders having to be synced at the same time.
Charging Mobile Devices
Keeping mobile devices fully charged is imperative for best performance. Some devices begin to exhibit connectivity and latency issues when their state of charge runs low. It's recommended that all mobile devices and peripherals are kept charged or swapped with charged devices if service periods exceed battery life.
Scheduling Maintenance Tasks
Some maintenance tasks can be done proactively by the Appetize helpdesk. The following are a few examples. Please contact the helpdesk, your Project Manager (if your implementation is still in progress), or your CSM to discuss the details.
- Enterprise Resets: Contact the helpdesk or PM (if active project) to schedule. This can also be done locally at the terminal.
- Firmware Updates: Contact helpdesk or PM (if active project) to schedule. This can also be done locally at the terminal.
- Clear Database: Cannot be scheduled at this time, but would be included in Enterprise Resets.
Definitions
- High volume venue: Any vendor where transaction averages exceed 240 per terminal per service period.
- Mid/Low volume venue: Any vendor where volume is under 240 transactions per terminal per service period.
- Sustained use venue: Any venue that operates daily for more than 3 consecutive days and any venue that operates for more than 5 hours in a single day.
- Daily + scheduling: This is meant to be done as often as possible (e.g. between shifts or meal periods and anytime an individual terminal can be rotated out of service for a short period of time). It is only recommended in extreme circumstances where service periods are extended and device usage is heavy.
