iSMPc Diagram

Note: While the iSMPc is charging or plugged into a power source it will remain in a powered on state. Any attempt to power off the iSMPc while charging will result in a reboot
- Ensure the iSMPc is not in a charging state or plugged into any power source
- Simultaneously press and hold the [#] and [Yellow] keys
- Once the iSMPc chirps the user may release both the [#] and [Yellow] keys. Some models of the iSMPc will not have a button with a # but will instead have a minus symbol ( - )
Turning the iSMPc On
Note: If the iSMPc is in a powered off state and is then connected to a power source the iSMPc will automatically power on
- Press the [Green] key
- The iSMPc will chirp signifying that the iSMPc is powering on
- The iSMPc will cycle through a number of screens before going to the BT Pairing Required screen or the offline/advertising screen
iOS Bluetooth Pairing
Note: This pairing mode is to only be used with iOS devices. If the iSMPc was previously paired with a 'Standard' Bluetooth device then the iSMPc will automatically reboot to allow it to pair to an iOS device
- Ensure the iSMPc is powered on and that the iOS device has Bluetooth enabled
- The iSMPc should be at the “Bluetooth Pairing Required” screen, if the iSMPc is not at that screen then the iSMPc must be unpaired (see section 6)
- To begin the pairing process select the “iOS” key (F1) on the iSMPc
Note: Some iSMPc’s are configured to only support one type of Bluetooth pairing. If this is the case then the iOS and Standard buttons that are pictured to the right will be replaced with a single button that reads 'Begin'
- The iSMPc will automatically display all Bluetooth enabled iOS devices in the immediate area
- Use the [F2] and [F3] keys to scroll up and down by each Bluetooth device
- Use the [F1] and [F4] keys to page up and page down
- Highlight the Bluetooth device the user intends to pair with and press the [Green] key
- The iSMPc will display an eight digit randomly generated pairing PIN
- The host device will prompt for a pairing PIN. The user should enter the PIN on the screen of the iSMPc into the iOS device’s prompt and select 'Pair' on the iOS device
- The iOS device will display the logical name of the iSMPc and show the status of the pairing process. Due to the validation and passing of secure credentials, the iOS device may cycle through a series of 'Connected' and 'Not Connected' statuses.
Standard Bluetooth Pairing
Note: This pairing mode is to only be used with Standard Bluetooth devices.
- Ensure the iSMPc is powered on and that the Standard Bluetooth device has Bluetooth enabled
- The iSMPc should be at the “Bluetooth Pairing Required” screen, if the iSMPc is not at that screen then the iSMPc must be unpaired (see section 6)
- To begin the pairing process select the “Standard” key (F2) on the iSMPc
- Some iSMPc’s are configured to only support one type of Bluetooth pairing. If this is the case then the iOS and Standard buttons that are pictured to the right will be replaced with a single button that reads “Begin”
- The iSMPc will go into a discovery mode and display an eight digit randomly generated pairing PIN along with the iSMPc’s unique Bluetooth name
- On the Standard Bluetooth device the user should search for the iSMPc’s logical Bluetooth name that is on the screen of the iSMPc and pair to the iSMPc
6.When the Standard Bluetooth device prompts for a PIN the user should enter the PIN that is displayed on the screen of the iSMPc
Bluetooth Unpairing
- To unpair the iSMPc from the host or tablet, press the ‘F’ key four (4) times in under two (2) seconds
- The iSMPc will beep and then go to the BT Pairing Required screen
Troubleshooting
If the iSMPc continuously prompts the host device and the user to enter a Bluetooth PIN and the unpairing process has been completed, then the user should follow the steps below.
- Ensure that the iSMPc has been forgotten on the host device
- Turn the Bluetooth off on the host device
- Power the iSMPc off by following the steps in section 2
- Power the iSMPc on by following the steps in section 3
- Once the iSMPc has finished booting the user can turn the Bluetooth for the host device back on and the host device should no longer prompt for a Bluetooth PIN
